Jill Bitner Copenhaver – Owner/Director
Miss Jill has been dancing and teaching in the Houston area for many years. She received a degree in History from Sam Houston State University with a minor in theatre and dance. Miss Jill performed in several shows at Six Flags Astroworld, including Monster Party and Arania’s Nightmare, and in the Super Bowl XXXVIII pre-game show with Willie Nelson and Aerosmith. She was also a member of the Sam Houston State Dance Company, and performed in many independent shows at Sam Houston. Jill has choreographed for a local dance company, as well as having her choreography featured in the student choreography show at Sam Houston, and acted as assistant choreographer for Sam Houston Theatre’s production of Smokey Joe’s Café, which took home several awards, including best choreography.
Since earning her degree Jill has worked with the Alley Theatre in Education and Community Outreach as an event organizer and a teaching artist in inner city schools. She is also a certified teacher in the areas of high school social studies and dance and has loved working in the classroom for the past 3 years. She founded Steppin’ Time Performing Arts Center in January 2008 in order to pursue a life-long goal of owning and operating her own dance studio.
Miss Jamie Reiter – Dance Instructor
Miss Jamie started her training at an early age in Plano, Texas. After moving around the world for several years, she and her family finally settled down in Houston and continuing training in jazz, hip-hop, and ballet at the Houston Academy of Dance. She later joined her high school drill team and became an officer and elite member during her four years. She then went on to dance with the Cy Fair College dance team and even worked for companies such as Radio Disney, which gave her the opportunity to perform all around Houston including the Houston Livestock Show and Rodeo.
Miss Jamie came to Steppin Time in 2008 and has loved every minute of it. She has found her true passion in teaching and enjoys watching her students grow. She hopes to continue to work and teach at Steppin Time and help inspire the next generation of dancers and performers for many years to come.
K.Lee has been dancing and performing around Houston her entire life. She first trained at Theatre Under The Stars and also trained in gymnastics at Finch’s Gymnastics U.S.A. She has been on numerous award-winning teams and was Captain of the Varsity Drill Team at Tomball High school. Kristin received numerous awards for her choreography and dancing.
K.Lee danced professionally with Planet Funk Academy where she trained for years in hip-hop and street jazz. She performed at Super Bowl XXXVIII, as well as Club Hush and local car shows. She has choreographed for dance competitions, cheer competitions, drill teams and car shows. Kristin has danced at Fairfield Dance Center, Vicki Michelle’s, Marvelous Motion, So Real Dance Studio (So Real Cru) and Soundbox Studios. She has performed and trained with choreographers such as Kimbrlee Childress, Tesia Truitt and Lindsay Slott of Distorted X. She has taken classes from famous choreographer Wade Robson and Brandon Harrell – a member of America’s Best Dance Crew winner: I.aM.mE. Her award-winning choreography for solos, duets, and company routines has been showcased around Houston, receiving numerous first place awards and high point overall awards. Kristin started her own business called Hip-Hop with K.Lee in October of 2009, directing her own hip hop company. In her spare time, she writes and records her own songs. She has been teaching for seven years and cannot imagine doing anything else! Kristin has a daughter who shares the same love for dance.
Miss Katie Parks – Dance Instructor
Katie McMann graduated from Sam Houston State University with a Bachelor of Fine Arts Degree in Dance. While studying musical theater at a young age she was introduced to dance and it didn’t take her long to discover her passion for movement and choreography. She has been recognized several times for her achievements in choreography, as well as her performance abilities.
In college, Katie was a member of Alpha Delta Pi Sorority and was on the Dean’s list for several semesters. She also had the pleasure of performing for such choreographers as Andy Noble, Dionne Sparkman Noble, Erin Reck, Jonathon Charles, Hilary Bryan, and Meghan Durham Wall and recently finished an internship with NobleMotion Dance. Now that she is out of school her true passion is teaching.
In the future she plans to always teach dance, while working to establish herself as a choreographer. She hopes to one day manage her own professional dance company.
Suzanne Lang – Dance Instructor
Suzanne started her dance training at age three at the Royal Academy of Fine Arts in Deer Park, Tx. Later in her dancing, she continued training in ballet, pointe, tap, and jazz at Rowlands School of Dance. At this time Suzanne was also a member of the Kingwood Dance Theatre, performing in multiple performances including “Alice in Wonderland” and “The Nutcracker.” In high school, along with continuing her studio training Suzanne also was selected as member and dance officer for the Deer Park Deer Escort Dance Team. This time in her life led her to her future career path of teaching dance. Excited to broaden her knowledge of dance, Suzanne attended Sam Houston State University. While at Sam, she was a member of the Dance Spectrum Company and the Texas World Dance Company. Suzanne also served as an officer for Chi Tau Epsilon, the Dance Honor Society. Since graduating from Sam Houston State University with a Bachelor of Arts in Dance and Education, Suzanne has taught all levels and ages of dance students, both in Texas as well as internationally. Along her journey, Suzanne earned her Masters degree in Education, a loving husband David, and a beautiful daughter Zoe.
Leila Greene – Dance Instructor
Leila Greene is originally from Austin TX. She started dancing at Tinka’s Dance Studio at age 2 and continued to dance there until she graduated from High School. She also started her teaching career at Tinka’s. Leila earned her BFA in Dance from Sam Houston State University in may of 2004. She traveled the country teaching dance and judging for Marching Auxiliaries for 12 years. She was the director of the Golddusters Drill Team at Klein Forest High School for 6 years. Leila is married to Jonathan Greene and they have two amazing children; Addison and Jackson. Leila is very excited to be a part of the Steppin Time family.
